Tidligere Black Sheep-medlem Dres har ny soloplate på gang, den første siden Sure Shot Redemption fra 1999. Den skal hete From the Black Pool of Genius og har en overraskelse til alle gamle rapfans. Et bonusspor på plata skal etter planen ha med ingen ringere enn Q-Tip fra ATCQ, Dave fra De La Soul og Mike G fra Jungle Brothers, så vel som AZ, Rhymefest og Jean Grae.
Dres slapp en forsmak til den kommende skiva i form av den fem spor lange EPen From the Black Pool of Genius: The Prelude i desember. Han hadde følgende å si om prosjektet:
“I would say the major difference [between The Prelude and LP] is the entourage of songs on the LP come with many guests which brings a nice variety to the spices already being served. Black Pool doesn’t refer to black people. It refers to the color black’s unique ability to absorb light. This deep, vast pool of soul, of artistic insight; although it’s not always understood, the light it reflects back to the ‘pih-poh’ is necessary.”
Plata produseres av blant andre Paten Locke, Tough Junkie, BeanOne, ShowBiz, the Beatnuts, og Urban Soul Group. Plata skal etter planen slippes 6. april.
